Decrease in deaths during childbirth

PLOS Global Public Health cited the report as saying that in 640 provinces the ratio of perinatal deaths is less than 70 per 100,000 live births. While in 114 provinces the ratio is more than 210. “Women and girls with disabilities, refugees , ethnic minorities, queer communities, people living with HIV and marginalized communities face the greatest risks to sexual and reproductive health,” the report said.

Dalit activists raised arguments regarding women’s safety

Dalit activists in India have argued for legal protections for women who face caste-based discrimination in education and the workplace. He said some families would remain completely poor. They will not be able to support their families and lift their children out of poverty. This will contribute to a cycle that promotes poor sexual and reproductive health. Almost half of Dalit women do not receive prenatal care.

The report said that more than 800 women die during childbirth every day. A quarter of women are unable to refuse sex with their partner. One in ten women are unable to make their own decisions.
