I stopped studying when I got married
I grew up and studied in Santa Cruz, Mumbai. Papa had a transport business. I am the eldest among four sisters. I was good at studies, so I was responsible for the education of the three younger sisters. My uncle was only eight years older than me, so he used to teach me.
Along with studying B.Com, I started preparing for CA. But I got married at the age of 21, and because of that I left my CA studies halfway through. My marriage happened in Mumbai (Mulund) so I didn’t have to leave my city. But life changed completely after marriage.
After marriage, I am busy with household chores. In addition, to fulfill my hobby, I also did a course in fashion design for two years. But we can’t do much in fashion design. The reason for this was that I became a mother.

Being the mother of a special child is not easy
When I became a mother after a year and a half of marriage, a new battle awaited me. My eldest son is a special child. When I remember the struggle for his birth, my soul trembles.
The umbilical cord became stuck in the son’s neck at the time of his birth. But the doctors were trying for a normal delivery instead of a cesarean delivery. All this took so long that she could not cry when the child came out.
Then the child specialist was called. Warm water was poured on the son, he was patted on the back, he was turned upside down, but he did not cry.
Because he was not able to get oxygen for a long time after birth, his brain was damaged and the connection between the brain and the body could not be made. That innocent child didn’t even know that now he would have to spend his whole life as a special child.
No one said anything to me until a few days after the birth of my son. When I asked about my son, my family members would tell me that he was kept in a box (machine). But before going home, the doctor clearly told me that I am the mother of a special child and the journey ahead is not so easy for me.
I cried a lot after coming home. I can’t understand what to do now. The eldest son is now 30 years old, but he cannot do his personal work. Can’t even sit. Someone has to stay with him in the house. But now we are used to it, it has become part of our life.
Business idea thinking in bad times
After the birth of the son, household expenses began to increase. Much of our money would have been spent on paying the doctor’s fees. My husband was also in the initial stage of his career and our joint family was also separated. Our financial situation was not such that we could run our household with just one income.
I wanted to contribute to improving the financial condition of the house, but my problem was that I could not go out of the house leaving my son. When nothing came to mind, I started teaching art, craft and cooking to students and homemakers at home.
Initially, I used to teach such courses where I didn’t have to spend a lot of money. First I started learning how to make chocolate, ice cream and cake. I have started my cooking classes with a fee of Rs 20 to 35.
People started liking my work. I got such a good response from people that my confidence started to increase. Gradually I started to learn more types of cooking. Today my cooking class has become so popular that cooking has become my identity.

The skills learned from grandma came in handy
My grandmother used to cook very well. Girls from the neighborhood used to come and learn from him how to make different dishes and pickles. Because I was busy with my studies, I rarely had time to cook, but whenever I had time, I would watch my grandmother cook and learn to cook from her. I never thought that the cooking skills taught by my grandmother would be so useful to me in life.
She became a mother again after 9 years
Our whole focus was on raising our son, then my work in cooking classes also increased a lot, so I didn’t even think about becoming a mother again. But after 9 years I accidentally got pregnant. When the pregnancy report came back positive, I was afraid that something like this would happen to me again.
When we met the doctor, he assured us that it is not necessary for the first child to be a special child and that the second should be too. The doctor asked me to take precautions. But for seven months of pregnancy, I continued to take cooking classes as before. Then when the doctor scared me, I stopped working.

younger son became elder brother
There is a difference of 9 years between my two sons, but the younger son looks after his elder brother as if he were an older brother. Now he even takes his older brother to watch a movie and arranges a recliner for him. It is very happy to see the love between the two brothers that they have both learned to live together.
unable to leave work
I have been working for years. Now husband’s accounts business and tax consulting business have also started doing well. Now my family wants me not to work too much. But I can’t live without working. Although I have reduced my work, I cannot stop working. Cooking gave me courage to survive in bad times, made me self-reliant and gave me a new identity. Cooking is my passion, I won’t be able to leave this job.
