In view of the forecast of higher than normal temperatures and the heat wave in some parts of the country, the election committee held a meeting with various stakeholders on Monday, including members of the meteorological department. In this framework, heat and heat conditions during the remaining six phases of the elections and measures to prevent their danger were discussed.

The meteorological department told the commission that heat and heat waves are not a major concern for the second phase on April 26. The weather forecast for the 13 states and union territories where voting is scheduled to take place at this stage is normal. The commission has decided to set up a task force comprising officials from the ECI, IMD, NDMA and the health ministry to check the effect of heat and humidity five days before voting for each phase of the election.

The necessary measures will be taken according to the demand. The Commission asked the Ministry of Health to give the necessary instructions to the health authorities in the states to prepare and provide assistance for the heat wave conditions affecting the election process.
