According to preliminary estimates by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, in 2024 the gross production of grain and oil crops will be about 74 million tons. Of these, about 52.4 million tons of grains and 21.7 million tons of oilseeds. This is what the Ministry of Agrarian Policy reported, writes agronews.ua.
Also at the beginning of last year, the total gross harvest of grain and oilseeds for 2023 is expected to be almost 13% lower compared to the previous period, at the level of 63.5 million tons. But the weather conditions contributed to the increase of the crop. So that in 2023, the gross production amounted to about 82 million tons, of which more than 60 million tons are grain and almost 22 million tons of oil.
Therefore, the forecasts regarding the gross collection indicators are preliminary in nature and will be updated during the year according to the circumstances, especially the weather conditions.
It is expected that this year farmers will be able to collect grain in the following volumes: wheat – 19.2 million tons (22.2 million tons were collected last year), barley – 4.9 million tons (in 2023 – 5.7 million tons) and corn – 26.7 million tons (it was 30.5 million tons) .
Among the oilseeds, an increase in the volume of soybeans is expected. The production of this crop is expected to be 5.2 million tons. In 2023, 4.7 million tons were collected. Sunflower production is expected to be 12.4 million tons, last year 12.9 million tons were harvested. A harvest of 4.1 million tons of rapeseed is expected, last year 4.7 million tons were harvested.
Sowing areas of grain and leguminous crops are predicted at the level of 10.6 million dunams (-395 thousand dunams compared to the 2023 indicator).
Of these, 4.3 million dunams of winter wheat were sown (-0.3 million dunams), and 0.2 million dunams of spring wheat are expected. (+0.2 thousand dunams).
Winter barley was sown on 0.47 million dunams (0.15 million dunams), spring barley area is expected to be 0.94 million dunams (+0.06 million dunams), corn – 3.9 million dunams (-62 thousand dunams).
Among the oilseeds, the soybean area is increasing. It is predicted that it will be sown on an area of ​​2.2 million dunams. This is almost 400 thousand dunams more than last year. Sunflower will be sown almost as last year on 5.3 million dunams. Rape on 1.5 million dunams, which is 0.1 million dunams less than last year.
