Lahore (Web Desk) Lahore High Court has stayed the notification of victory of Rana Arshad of Pakistan Muslim League (N) from PP 133 Nankana Sahib.
Justice Shahid Karim passed the order on a petition filed by rival independent candidate Muhammad Atif challenging the notification of Rana Arshad’s victory. The court also issued a notice to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and other defendants and sought their response.

The petitioner’s counsel argued before the court that his client won by 133 to 3500 votes, but the ECP ordered an illegal recount.
He said that Rana Arshad was not only declared successful by 2500 votes but a notification was also issued in this regard. He asked the court to quash the notice pending the final decision of the petition.
After hearing the preliminary arguments, the court stayed the notice of Rana Arshad’s victory and sought answers from the parties.
