Five members of a family died in a car-truck collision in Kannur, Kerala. A child was also included among the dead. The incident took place in Kannapuram area on Monday night. The deceased have been identified as 59-year-old KN Padmakumar, a resident of Kalichandukkam, Churikat Sudhakaran, 35-year-old Ajitha, 65-year-old Kozhummal Krishnan and nine-year-old Akash, a resident of Bhammandi.

According to the police, the incident took place at 10.15 pm on Monday in Kanpuram area. Five members of the same family were traveling in a car from Thalassery towards Kasaragod. A truck with a gas cylinder arrived from Mangaluru. The police said that four people died on the spot, while a nine-year-old boy was pronounced dead at the hospital. The truck driver was also injured in this accident.
An official said the family left their son Saurabh at the hostel and returned home. After the incident, police arrived at the scene and removed the body from the car. The police arrested the truck driver.
