The government’s procurement decision came after applicants complained about the significant delay in the issuance of Pakistani passports to their passports, with more than 550,000 people facing a wait of two to three months.
A similar issue was highlighted last year with reference to a shortage of laminated paper. The Department of Passports and Immigration cited a shortage of ink and laminating paper as the reason for the delay.
