GUWAHATI: The office of the Chief Engineer (Agriculture), Kamrup Division is accused of violating the Code of Conduct (MCC) rules as a hoard of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was found installed in the premises of the office at Uluvari, on April 9.

The incident unfolded when Assam Pradesh Congress president Mahila Meera Borthkur went live on a social media platform to point out the audacity of the ruling party in ignoring the MCC.

"The hoarding in the premises of a government office shows how both the party and the department are completely against the rules and regulations of the MCC. According to the guidelines, no party is allowed to upload any advertising material on government properties, but here even the department employees are biased towards the BJP. It is difficult to understand whether it is a government office or a BJP office," Borthcore said.

Meanwhile, when GPlus tried to contact the district administration, an official replied, "The hoarding has been removed and shows cause notices served to violators."

However, Borthkur also alleged that the BJP had secretly distributed the ‘Lakhpati Baidu’ scheme and other scheme forms to the electors, thereby subverting all the norms laid down by the Election Commission of India.
