Shangla: A Chinese company has stopped work on the Tarbela Dam expansion project after five Chinese nationals were killed in a suicide attack in Shangla.
China Power Construction Corporation, the company working on the project, has said in office order that due to safety concerns, work has been suspended at the site and offices, the company has also dismissed the employees.
According to sources, yesterday WAPDA Chairman Lt Gen. (retd) Sajjad Ghani visited the project site together with the Chinese ambassador on the occasion of his visit to the Dasu project and spent several hours with them to restore the confidence of the Chinese workers who had given them all kinds of assistance, security was ensured.
It should be noted that China Power Company is working on various projects including the construction of the Bhasha Dam project in Pakistan apart from the Tarbela Extension Five project.
