The Punjab government has revised school timings for the summer season to prevent children and staff from scorching in hot weather.
As per the notification, the schools in Punjab will remain open from 7:45 am to 1:15 pm while the regular classes would end at 11:45 am on Fridays.
Subsequently, the double shift schools will remain open from 7:45 am to 12:15 pm, and from 12:45 pm to 5:15 pm throughout the state, the notification said.
Earlier, the state education department announced the change in school timings for the winter season which came into effect from February to April 15 due to extreme cold waves.
During the extreme cold wave, the regular classes were held between 8:30am and 2:30pm in boys’ schools in the state capital and other cities while the classes in girls’ schools were held between 8:15am and 2 : 15 pm.
