Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz approved the Nawaz Sharif Kisan Card.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz approved the Nawaz Sharif Kisan Card in a meeting held on agrarian reforms under her chairmanship in Lahore.

According to the announcement issued in this regard, through the Nawaz Sharif Kisan Card, 5 lakh small farmers will get a loan of 150 billion rupees in a year on easy terms, 30 thousand for buying the best seeds, fertilizers, pesticides. The loan is given per acre.

The statement said that various types of subsidies will also be given through the Nawaz Sharif Kisan Card, Model Agriculture Centers will be built in collaboration with the private sector across Punjab.

In this regard, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said that model agriculture center will be built in every district in the first phase, farmers will get rid of fake fertilizers and medicines.

He directed the Department of Agriculture to collect complete data of production and demand of each crop.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz also approved the establishment of a center of excellence for research and development on cotton, wheat and rice crops.

In the meeting, it was also decided to build a research center in Faisalabad University of Agriculture with 2 billion rupees with the cooperation of China.

According to the announcement, the center will have a genome center, germplasm resource, speed breeding, climate change research facility.

The statement said that amendments will be made to the Act to prevent the sale of counterfeit agricultural drugs and fertilisers.

The meeting also reviewed the proposed law to amend the Punjab Seed Corporation and the Punjab Agricultural Research Board and prevent agricultural land from being used for residential purposes.

In the meeting, it was also agreed to equip the Agricultural Extension Wing with modern technology and to recruit 500 agriculture graduates in the Agricultural Extension Wing.

It was stated in the briefing paper that 24,800 modern agricultural implements will be given to farmers at a cost of 7 billion rupees in 2 years.
