Prohibitory orders imposed in Kachar ahead of LS elections Achi-News

GUWAHATI: Cachar District Magistrate Rohan Kumar Jha has issued prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the Indian Penal Code to maintain public peace and security during the parliamentary elections scheduled for April 26. The orders announced on Tuesday are in line with the Election Commission of India’s standard operating procedure for the last 48 hours of polling day.

The prohibition orders are intended to prevent any disturbance of the peace and disruption of the election process, or possible violence and clashes between groups affiliated with different political parties. They also seek to ensure a smooth and safe environment for the parliamentary elections in the 8-HP constituency of Silchar.

The order prohibits the illegal gathering of more than five people and the holding of public meetings during the 48 hours before the polls close. The restrictions are valid from 17:00 on April 24 until April 27.

This step is intended to maintain public peace and prevent incidents that could threaten the election process. The Regional Information and Public Relations Office of Barak Valley Region in Silchar, Assam released the information in a press statement.
