Islamabad (Web Desk) Another request to increase the cost of electricity by 2 rupees 94 per unit has been filed in the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) to put more burden on the electricity consumers.

According to a private TV report, the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) has submitted a price increase request for the March 2024 fuel adjustment.

A hearing date on the application will be set by Nepra, Neprafuel will decide on the modification after hearing the CPPA application.

It should be noted that even on April 8, the government has increased the cost of electricity to citizens by Rs 4.92 per unit.

A week before this, the government had also increased the price of electricity for the citizens by 2 rupees 75 paise per unit.

In the Nepra notification, it was said that the price of electricity has been increased in the second quarter of the current financial year, additional payments will be made by consumers in the months of April, May and June.

He may remember that this increase in the price of electricity was done at a time when the World Bank said that the increase in electricity and gas prices in Pakistan had pushed inflation to the highest level in 50 years.

In the report released by the World Bank, Pakistan’s inflation in the first half of the current financial year was said to be the highest since 1974.

The World Bank report said that energy inflation in urban areas increased by 50% during the first half of the financial year, due to the increase in electricity and gas prices, the cost of production increased significantly Inflation was 50.6 percent.

According to the report, energy inflation in urban areas was 40.6 per cent in the same period last year.

He said the average inflation in Pakistan in the first half of the current fiscal year was 28.8 percent, compared to 25 percent in the same period last year.
