Around 156 liters of drinks were recovered from their custody.

According to Excise Department sources, the four women arrested are Minti Soren, Shanti Hemaram, Hopanmoy Baske and Sadhana Hembram. All of them live in Balatuli area of ​​Jatradanga Panchayat under Old Maldah police station. One of the arrested women was a drug dealer who was arrested earlier in connection with liquor smuggling, excise officials said.

He was later released on bail. According to Afgari sources, the four accused women had stored a large amount of liquor in used empty plastic bottles. They planned to smuggle them in a vehicle from Old Maldah to Biswanath Mor area in English Bazar block.

Officials of the Old Malda Excise Department conducted a raid after getting to know from secret sources. The four women were arrested. Nilendu Das, Malda Deputy Collector of Taxes, said that such raids continue throughout the year in different parts of the district. All kinds of measures are also taken to prevent such illegal drug dealing. The four accused women have been produced before the Malda District Court.
