PM Modi arrived in Guwahati in Assam late on Tuesday evening. He was greeting people during this road show.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is touring Assam and Tripura on Wednesday (April 17). He will address an election rally at 11 am at Nalbari in Barpeta Lok Sabha constituency in Assam. Phani Bhushan Chaudhary of Assam Gana Parishad (AGP) is contesting from Barpeta on behalf of the NDA.

After Barpeta, Modi will go to Agartala in Tripura. Modi will address the rally at Swami Vivekananda Maidan in Agartala. The Prime Minister had reached Guwahati late on Tuesday evening (April 16). He was greeting people during the road show there. He stayed in Guwahati for the night.

Voting in 3 phases on 14 seats in Assam
Elections are to be held in 7 phases for 543 Lok Sabha seats in the country. The first stage of voting will take place on April 19. The results will come on June 4. Elections will be held for 14 seats in Assam in the initial 3 phases. Voting is going to take place here on 19 April, 26 April and 7 May.

The BJP is in alliance with the Assam Gana Parishad (AGP) and the United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) in Assam. AGP is contesting from Barpeta and UPPL from Kokrajhar Lok Sabha seat. BJP is contesting the remaining 11 Lok Sabha seats. The party has announced the names of its candidates for all the seats.

BJP won two Tripura seats in 2019
Tripura has two Lok Sabha seats – Tripura East and Tripura West. Elections will be held for Tripura West on April 19 and Tripura East on April 26. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, BJP had won two seats of the state. Earlier in 2014, CPI (M) had won both the seats.
