Elephants are very enthusiastic when bathing in a large pool or pond within the village. The Maran tribe people of Assam mainly observe this ritual by celebrating Uruka and Garu Bihu. They also celebrate the tradition of Manu Bihu.

According to tradition, the Maran tribe people start celebrating Bihu from the first Tuesday of Bohag. On that day, after Uruka, the next day Cow Bihu is celebrated. And one of his customs is to take the elephants to the pond and wash them with Dalai Malai. They consider it a very sacred practice.
