A court in the Kunjhar district of Odisha on Thursday sentenced a 29-year-old man to life imprisonment. The case concerns rape, in which the convicted victim was a minor girl. It is said that the girl also gave birth to a dead child and then died tragically.
Attorney General (PP) said, Keonjhar POCSO court judge Bijay Kumar Mishra heard testimony of 16 witnesses. At the same time, after reviewing the medical report, the verdict was given against the accused Ansuman Mahapatra.
The victim was appointed a helper.
The prosecutor’s office stated that after the death of the victim’s mother, her father remarried and the convict’s wife took the little girl into her home. However, instead of facilitating her education, she employed the victim as a domestic help, the PP said.
