Biju Janata Dal (BJD) president and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said that apart from his traditional seat Hingili in Ganjam district, he will also contest from Kantbanji constituency in Bulangir district. He announced this while releasing the fifth list of nine candidates for the Odisha Assembly elections on Wednesday. Let us inform that Patnaik also contested from two seats in the 2019 assembly elections and won from Hingili and Bijapur constituencies in Bargara district of western Odisha. However, he later left the seat of Bijapur.

Six women were included in the fifth list of nine candidates

Six women and four reds are also included in the fifth list of nine candidates released for the Odisha Assembly elections. Among these renegade leaders, Arundhati Devi (Dabgarh), Dilip Kumar Nayak (Nimpara), Rajendra Kumar Chhatriya (Kochinda) and Laxmipriya Nayak (Chitrakonda) have been given tickets for the Assembly elections. The party removed the names of its four sitting MLAs from the list, which include the names of Poorna Chandra Bakka (Chitrakonda), Kishore Chandra Naik (Kuchinda), Rajnikant Singh (Angul) and Sameer Ranjan Das ( Nimapara).

The six female MLAs include Lakshmipriya Nayak (Chitrakonda), Barsa Singh Briha (Padampur), Arundhati Devi (Dabgarh), Sanjukta Singh (Angul), Sulkansa Jatanjali Devi (Samkhamundi) and Dr. Indira Nanda (Jaipur).

BJD decided not to give ticket to Angul MLA Rajnikant Singh and gave ticket to his wife Sanjukta Singh. Apart from this, the party did not give ticket to former MLA Ravi Nanda and gave ticket to his wife Indira Nanda from Jaipur constituency. Patnaik S., daughter of former MLA Nandini Devi.
