Man arrested at Trudeau airport after shootings in Rosemont Achi-News

A 29-year-old man was arrested last Thursday at Montreal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport, due to a shooting that happened in the Rosemont-le-Petit-Patrie district.

Montreal police (SPVM) say they have reason to believe the man was “preparing to flee abroad” because he had a one-way ticket to France and almost $6,000 in Canadian currency.

This comes after shots were fired at 7pm on April 7 at 25e avenue and rue de Bellechasse.

According to the police, a 21-year-old man was sitting in a vehicle that had previously been reported stolen.

“After a short discussion, the suspect allegedly pulled out a 9mm pistol and fired several shots at the other man,” the police state. “The man in the car was hit by a bullet in his upper body. Despite this injury, he managed to escape the scene and make his way to the hospital.”

His injuries were not life-threatening.

The police state that the suspect is known to them.

He appeared in court in Montreal to face one count of attempted murder.

He is also charged with possession of a firearm without a permit and reckless discharge.

The victim was also arrested while in the hospital.

He should be charged with possession of a weapon without permission.
