Statements will be recorded on Friday

Let us inform that six persons including Pragya Thakur are facing trial in the case under various sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC), Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA), Explosives Act, Indian Arms Act and Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA). . The court is currently recording the statements of the accused under Section 313 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC). These are the defendant’s last statements before the closing arguments were submitted and the case is now closed for judgment. Special court judge AK Lehoti fixed Friday for recording of additional statements in the case.

What happened in Melgaon?

Let us tell you that on September 29, 2008, a motorcycle exploded near a mosque in Malgaon city, 200 km from Mumbai in Nashik district of Maharashtra. Six people died and more than 100 were injured in this blast. Earlier Maharashtra ATS investigated this case and later it was transferred to -NIA.

Last month, the special court issued a bail order against Pragya Thakur as she did not appear in the court during that period as well. She later appeared in court in person, following which the warrant was revoked.
