Lower Sackville attack: NS RCMP say two youths have been charged Achi-News

Two youths are facing charges after an alleged assault in Lower Sackville, NS, on Monday.

RCMP and EHS responded to a park on Metropolitan Avenue around noon, after a report of an incident involving a weapon.

According to the police, officers have learned that two other youths approached a young man, threatened him with a knife and attacked him with sensual irritation.

“Information and evidence quickly gathered from witnesses at the scene led RCMP officers to a transit bus shelter nearby, on Glendale Dr. near Metropolitan Ave., where they found the two youths involved in the attack and safely arrested them,” said Cpl. Guillaume Tremblay, with the Nova Scotia RCMP, in a news release.

“During a search, officers found and confiscated a knife and a canker sore.”

Police say the teenager suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene by EHS.

According to the statement, nearby Leslie Thomas Junior High School was suspended and secured as a precaution.

The two youths, who are from Halifax, have been charged with:

  • attack with a weapon
  • uttering threats
  • possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

One of the two youths was also charged with unauthorized possession of a prohibited device.

Both youths were remanded in custody and will appear in Halifax Youth Justice Court on Tuesday.
