GUWAHATI: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is fielding Topun Kumar Gogoi as its candidate for the upcoming Jorhat constituency elections.
Educational qualification:
• Gogoi’s educational background includes obtaining a Master of Arts (MA) from Dibrugarh University in 2007.

Political profile:
• Gogoi’s political career includes significant roles and responsibilities within the state and the central government. Since 2019, Gogoi has been serving as the Member of Parliament (MP) representing the Jorhat constituency.
• From 2016 to 2019 he served as the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) representing Sonari. During this tenure he held the position of Minister of State (independent post) in the Ministry of Power and Public Works (PWD) in the Government of Assam.
Asset liabilities:
• Financial disclosures reveal that Gogoi’s total income for the financial year 2022-23 amounted to Rs 10,73,970. His asset portfolio consists of movable assets worth Rs 2,51,44,290 and immovable assets totaling Rs 22,50,000. It should be noted that Gogoi declared liabilities to the extent of 2,84,651 rupees.
