In the second phase, BJP candidate Manoj Tigga and leaders-activists will mainly grow tea gardens. Meanwhile, the fact that Cha Balla is the stronghold of outgoing MP John Barla is not unknown in the Padmaful camp. But at the beginning of Manoj’s campaign in the tea circle, Barla did not stay with him. Even at the end, party workers doubt whether Barla will be seen or not.
Manoj Tigga will start campaigning from Chamurchi district in Nagarakata on Friday. Barla will not stay with Manoj, but Puna Vengra MLA Nagarakata will. Barely three weeks before the polls, the BJP is uncomfortable with Barla’s campaigning. But Manoj does not give up hope. Don’t listen to the conflict. Simply saying, ‘I hope to have Janada on the campaign trail soon.’
A few months ago, North Bengal news had reported that Manoj, not Barla, had a greater chance of getting a ticket in the Alipurdua Lok Sabha seat. In fact, Manoj’s name appears in the list of candidates announced by BJP. Barla’s name may be omitted. And then Barla took the form of Rudra as he did not get the ticket. He did not hesitate to file corruption charges against Manoj. In the presence of media representatives at Madarihat, Manoj did not even refrain from humming in front of him.
Later, however, the team was torn apart by various efforts. Barla announced to campaign on behalf of Manoj. PM Modi came to campaign in North Bengal. The outgoing MP from Alipurduar softened the tone before his arrival in Siliguri.
But that assurance of Barla was just a slogan. I believe he is part of the BJP. Alipurduar Lok Sabha constituency has 116 tea gardens in Alipurduar and Jalpaiguri districts. The south garden vote determines the result of the Alipurdua constituency. Majority of the tea workers belong to tribal community. Barla is known as the leader of Adivasi Bikash Parishad. He has more or less a following in every tea garden in the area due to the presence of MPs and ministers. In this situation, if Barla stays away from the campaign, the BJP may have to pay the price.
Manoj, however, tries to proceed with a cool head. He said he wanted to visit all 116 gardens at least once. Want to talk to tea workers. Although he is campaigning in the tea circle for the next 10 days, Manoj has to ‘cover’ around 12 tea gardens every day to step into each tea garden. Is that even possible?
On the one hand there is pressure to visit hundreds of tea gardens. On the other hand, the thorn remains in the lotus in Alipurduar. Barla had earlier claimed that he was the one who gave birth to BTWU, the BJP’s tea workers union. Moreover, a group of BTWU leaders expressed their anger against Manoj in a press conference for not getting Barla tickets. All the anger has been suppressed? However, Manoj claims that the BTWU leaders’ anger has subsided.
Voting is big. So, regardless of what Barla said, Manoj hoped to campaign in the tea circle by beating him. For now it’s sand. Barla is not seen in the area. Even when calling, there is no answer. However, Manoj says, ‘Jondar’s wife is ill. So probably after a day or two he will campaign.
But whether Barla is in Delhi or Banarhat, Manoj could not say. Because he had no contact with Barla until Thursday night. So where is Manakashakshi Mittal?
