GUWAHATI: An engineering student drowned in the Bhogdoi river on March 25, amid Holi celebrations.

The victim has been identified as Arnab Kalur Bora, a final year student of Jorhat Engineering College (JEC) pursuing BTech. He reportedly went to the Bogdoi River for a bath after Holi along with his friends.
Media reports stated that while bathing in the river, Arnav suddenly disappeared. His friends immediately called the authorities.

In response, a team of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) was deployed to the spot to initiate rescue efforts. It took the SDRF personnel almost three hours to recover the body from the river.
