Muslim praying

What happened after it: In the month of Ramadan, Muslims pray for safety and mercy from Allah by offering prayers and fasting. ‘Itikaf’ is one of the Nafli ie voluntary prayers of the month of Ramadan. In this regard, Muslims leave worldly affairs and completely immerse themselves in worship for ten days. A person who performs Itekaf after Maghrib prayers on the 20th fast, spends ten days worshiping only in a corner of the house, in an empty room or in a mosque. During these ten days, if they are at home, they do not come out of the house, if they are in the mosque, they do not come out of the mosque. In general, they separate themselves from the work of the world and go into solitude. It is very important to talk to the people around you.

What is itikaaf?

Among the methods of worship mentioned in Islam, some methods are considered special and one of them is I’tikaf. This is one of the important prayers of Ramadan, it is a Sunnah that even the Prophet had come to perform. In Arabic language, I’tikaf means to follow or commit to something. I’tikaf means devoting time completely to the worship of Allah by remaining isolated in a mosque or home.

Mufti Salauddin Qasmi Saheb of Darul Quran Ghaziabad said that I’tikaf is Sunnah-e-Muwakkida in Islam. Prophet Muhammad Saheb used to observe Itakaf with restrictions. Although Itikaf can be done in any month of the year, but it is considered better to do it with restrictions in the third Ashra of Ramadan ie the last 10 days. It is Sunnah for at least one person from each area to do this Itikaaf. If even one person performs I’tikaf in the local mosque, the responsibility of I’tikaf is lifted from everyone else.

There is a great advantage to Itakaf in Islam. The Prophet Allah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said that when a Muslim does I’tikaf, that person is saved from many sins. Apart from this, the second benefit of I’tikaf is that there are many such actions that a Muslim cannot perform in the state of I’tikaf, yet he still gets the reward for performing those actions.

Where is Itakaf performed?

Men cannot perform Itikaf at home, they do it in mosques. He stays in a corner of the mosque behind a curtain and comes out only during namaz. During this period he does not even speak to any other worshipper. Let’s talk if it’s really important. During this period he does not step outside the threshold of the mosque.

At the same time, women observe Itekaf only at home. For this, a room is earmarked in the house and then Itikaf is completed without leaving the house for 10 days.

For how many days and when is itikaaf done?

Mufti Salauddin Qasmi Saheb of Darul Quran Ghaziabad said that although Itekaf can be done in any month, it is Sunnah to do Itekaf on the last Ashra ie the last 10 days of Ramzan. Actually, a Muslim can do Itekaf for 1 hour, 1 day or 2 days. But this Itakaf will be counted as Nafli Itakaf. While Sannat-e-Muwaqda Itakaf is performed during the last 10 days of Ramadan Mubarak. Any Muslim can sit in Itakaf, whether a child, young or old. However, if a child wants to do Itikaaf then his age should be over 14 years ie he should be an adult.

When does itkaaf go bad?

There are many rules of Itakaf. If a Muslim sitting in I’tikaf goes out of the mosque without any need, then his I’tikaf becomes Makruh. However, going to the bathroom while staying in the mosque does not spoil the Itikaaf.

What does Itakaf achieve?

Prophet Muhammad said that whoever performs Itikaf for 10 days in Ramadan will be rewarded with two Hajj and two Umrah. Apart from this, the person who does I’tikaf remains prevented from all those sins and gets the reward as if he did many good deeds.
