Air India said on Tuesday that some of its westbound flights used safe alternative routes in Iranian airspace. In fact, the flight tracking website claimed on Tuesday that at least three Air India flights used Iran’s airspace amid the Western crisis.
When Air India was questioned about this, a company spokesperson said that after reviewing the threat, some of our flights to western countries used a safe alternative air route, which was also used by other airlines. A person close to the matter said that the company’s flights passed through a safe corridor in Iran’s airspace. The company also stated that ‘Air India will continue to consult with security organizations and regulatory bodies regarding the security of flights to the Middle East’.
In fact, recently Iran attacked Israel with more than 300 missiles and drones. In light of the increased tensions in the region after the attack, the Ministry of Civil Aviation asked all airlines to assess the risk at the level of operating international flights. Many international airlines used alternative flight routes to Western countries.
