WELLINGTON: The Kiwis announced their 15-man squad for the ninth edition of the 20-over exhibition on Monday, with the Black Caps picking an experienced squad that includes Williamson and fast bowling duo Tim Southee and Trent Boult.
This will be Williamson’s sixth T20 World Cup appearance and fourth as captain, with Southee making his seventh appearance in the tournament and Boult’s fifth as the Kiwis look to secure their first title in the game’s shortest international format.

There were no major surprises in the New Zealand squad, with key fast bowler Kyle Jamieson (back) and all-rounder Adam Milne (ankle) ruled out through injury, and the likes of Will O’Rourke, Tom Latham , Tim Seifert and Will The players were involved. Despite good form recently against the white ball, the youth are missing out on selection.
With veteran top batsman Colin Munro also absent, the selectors instead opted to include young gun Rachin Ravindra – the Kiwis will also take young paceman Ben Sears to the USA and West Indies if required .
New Zealand coach Gary Stead believes he has selected a balanced squad and is confident of a strong performance in the month-long tournament.
