The condition of the loco pilots in the Indian Railways is quite pathetic. He urged the railway board to improve his working conditions or allow his transfer to another department. In fact, a group of loco pilots recently met Railway Board Chairman Jaya Verma Sinha. The group submitted a memorandum to the Railway Chairman, sharing their problems. All traffic squadrons are members of the All India Railwaymen’s Federation.
Women pilots face these problems
In the memo, car squadrons said that there are no toilets in the engines. We are not even able to change the sanitary pads in the engine. At night we are not even able to get out of the engine to fix technical problems. There is also no pick up and drop off facility for late night service. It is worth noting that today more than 1500 women work as locomotive pilots and help as pilots throughout the country and they often continue to raise their issues through various mediums.
The loco squadron said we know changes are coming to the train and new engines are coming with toilet facilities but it will take them a long time to fully implement them. According to him, in the ‘record note of discussion’ it is written that women working in the categories of engineering, locomotive pilot and watchman can have a one-time option to change the category. But no action is taken in this regard. We demand that if you cannot improve our workplace then change our department.
