India on Friday delivered the first shipment of the BrahMos missile to China’s neighboring country, the Philippines. The Philippines will deploy it in the South China Sea, which has increased China’s concern. The Philippines continues to dispute Sparkly Island in the South China Sea.

China continues to threaten the neighboring small island states because these countries are not militarily strong. In such a situation, China is more concerned about the fact that with the acquisition of BrahMos, the power of the Philippines will be greatly increased.

In January 2022, the Philippines signed a deal worth 2,966 million rupees with India to purchase the BrahMos missile. Apart from India and Russia, the Philippines is the first country in the world to receive the BrahMos missile. BrahMos was delivered by Air Force C-17 Globemaster aircraft. This Air Force plane arrived in Manila, the capital of the Philippines on Friday morning. Three systems of BrahMos have been delivered. Each system has two missile launchers, a radar and a command and control center.

Prime Minister Modi greeted

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the countrymen on the delivery of BrahMos to the Philippines. He said that the BrahMos missile was jointly developed by India and Russia. This is a great achievement of the country.

India will also provide training

India will also provide training to the Philippines in the operation of the BrahMos missile.

The speed of this supersonic cruise missile is Mach 2.8. That means 2.8 times the speed of sound.

The range of BrahMos given to the Philippines is 290 km.

It can be launched from a submarine, ship, plane or even land.

Countries interested in purchasing

According to Atul Dinakar Rane, CEO of BrahMos Aerospace, 12 countries in the world including Argentina and Vietnam are keen to buy it.
