Guwahati: A vehicle hit a school van in a head-on collision causing major casualties in Guwahati’s Burjahar area on April 19.

In the hit-and-run incident near Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoli International Airport on the outskirts of Guwahati, one person lost their life while six others, including school children, were injured. The accident occurred when a vehicle swerved into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with the school van.
The driver of the van was killed instantly, while several others, including teachers and school children, suffered serious injuries.

The incident happened when the school van was approaching its destination at St. Claret School in Borjar. It was reported that the approaching vehicle collided with the van before speeding away from the scene.
Speaking to GPlus, a traffic official from Azra police station said, “The accident took place around 7-7:30 am when the two vehicles collided. The driver was killed on the spot. The passengers were initially taken to a local hospital, but some were shifted to Excelcare and others to GMCH for assistance Additional medical. They are under surveillance for now. We are reviewing the incident for further investigation.”
