New Delhi (A. 24): External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has revealed his color by targeting the Western media for unnecessary criticism of India. He said he was working as a ‘political player’ not because of a lack of information but to influence elections. The news agency ANI has given this information in its report.
Addressing a forum of nationalist thinkers in Hyderabad on Tuesday, S Jaishankar said, ‘I hear this kind of noise from the Western press and if they are criticizing our democracy, it is not because of lack of knowledge. Because they feel they are also political players in our elections.
Quoting an article from a foreign media agency, Jaishankar said, “I have read that some western media are very hot on India, so why are they holding elections now? It has been questioned. I have read that article. But these are games played with India’, he claimed.
India’s foreign minister said, ‘This is politics. Our domestic politics is going global, global politics, they now feel they have to infiltrate India. How can these people decide who will rule them without consulting us? He answered that.
Jaishankar said, ‘We have to stand against these kinds of attacks and criticisms, positions and reports, because they question everything. They think that your electoral system, your EVMs, your Electoral Commission and even the weather are part of our electorate (West). I believe the time has come for us to reveal them and we must do so confidently,” he said.
