A 59-year-old piano teacher has been charged after reports that a 10-year-old girl who was a music student was sexually assaulted “on multiple occasions,” Edmonton police said.

The police were notified on March 14.

“The assaults reportedly occurred during piano lessons while the child’s mother was in another part of the house,” the Edmonton Police Service said in a news release Wednesday.

On March 26, Cassius Alleyne, 59, was arrested and charged with sexual assault and sexual interference.

Police said the accused may have been teaching piano lessons to children and adults for seven years. They said he usually teaches lessons at his students’ homes.
