On the resignation of Congress leader Muhammad Arif ‘Naseem’ Khan, National Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said he expressed his displeasure that no Muslim had become a candidate due to a misunderstanding. Addressing a press conference in Assam’s capital Guwahati, Kharj said that assembly and Rajya Sabha elections are also going to be held in the state, so his words will be taken into account. However, he did not receive the name of any leader during this period. In Maharashtra, the Congress is included in the Mahavikas Aghadi, which also includes two other political parties. All decisions were made by mutual consent. Therefore, it is incorrect to say that the party has not made any Muslim a candidate.

Varsha Gaikwad also met

Mumbai Congress chief Varsha Gaikwad met Khan on Saturday. There was a discussion between Khan and Gaikwad for 25 minutes. Khan said he stood by his decision not to work for the party. He said Gaikwad is my younger sister and can meet me anytime. I stand on my stand. There is no Muslim candidate (Congress) not only in Maharashtra, but also in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Gujarat. According to media reports, Khan himself wanted to contest from Mumbai North Central Lok Sabha, but the party gave the ticket to Gaekwood.

Congress Knesset member Amin Patel also commented on the matter

AIMIM leaders also came in support

In this regard, AIMIM leader Waris Pathan said that the Indian alliance has not given a ticket to a Muslim in even one of the 48 Lok Sabha seats in Maharashtra. There are 48 seats in the country. At least three seats should have been given to Muslims. You want 90 percent Muslim votes but don’t want to do anything for their political empowerment.

That’s the whole point

A day earlier, Khan had written a letter to Mallikarjun Kharj saying that he would not campaign in the Lok Sabha elections. Because the Maha Vika Agadi faction did not field any Muslim candidate. He expressed his displeasure when he wrote a letter to Mallikarjun Kharj. In the letter, he wrote that many Muslim organizations, leaders and party workers throughout the country hope that the Congress will definitely give an entry ticket to at least one candidate from the minority community. But not one ticket was given. He also wrote that when Congress wants votes from Muslims, then why is it not fielding Muslim candidates.
