External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Wednesday said that Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) is part of India. He said that every political party in the country is committed to its return and this is indeed our national commitment.
Jaishankar addressed the students of Gargi College, New Delhi. During this, he said, all I can say about POK is that there is a resolution in Parliament and every political party in this country is committed to ensure that POK comes back to India. This is our national commitment.
Referring to the abrogation of most of the provisions of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, the External Affairs Minister said that earlier people thought that Article 370 could not be changed. The politics of that time had imprinted it in people’s minds. But we changed it. “Once we changed that, the whole ground situation changed,” he said.
He also said that after the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019, people are now thinking about the Pakistan Occupied Kashmir issue. He said, we have taken the right decision to remove Article 370. Due to this the PoK issue has come to the forefront of people’s thinking. The first condition for something to happen is that it should be in your thoughts.
