The Mankachar police arrested the child after entering India in 2021. After that the police station registered a case with case number 892/2021. He was later placed under the supervision of the Boko Assam Child Protection Cell. After that the child was returned with the help of South Salmara Manikchar District Legal Service Authority.

On Friday, the child was handed over to the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) with the help of Assam Police and Meghalaya Police. The family is happy to have the child back after three years of legal complications. Gratitude was expressed to the Police, the Legal Services Authority and the NIC.
