A major initiative has been taken to provide better healthcare services to the people of the country. To this end, in the first phase, permission was given to establish 10 urban primary health centers in the seven cities of the country. A budget of 11.69 million rupees has been approved for the establishment of primary health centers under the National Urban Health Mission. This process was completed even before the model code of conduct came into effect for the Lok Sabha elections. The construction of a health center will cost about 1.16 million rupees. A health center will also be established in the capital Patna along with other cities.
