One of Twitch’s top streamers has shared details on how much he earned in just 12 months, and you may want to consider a career change.

Although it is difficult to make a living streaming games online, there is one A Twitch star has revealed what can be achieved if you manage to reach the upper echelons of popularity.

Canadian streamer xQc, whose real name is Félix Lengyel, is one of the most popular streamers on the platform with over 12 million followers. He now streams across Twitch and Kick, having signed a two-year non-exclusive deal with the rival platform worth over $100 million.

xQc was asked about his income during an interview with content creator NateStakkzz, who often interviews people he encounters on the street about their jobs.

After an introduction, the interviewer asked xQc what is the most money he has earned in his nine years of streaming.

‘I think it’s public, right?’ he replied. ‘Yes it was leaking. It was like 9.’

When asked to explain what he means, xQc confirmed that he earned $9 million (£7.1 million) in one year from streaming – although he did not specify when.

xQc later referred to ‘people’ as the biggest obstacle he has faced during his career, adding: ‘People often know, so like, find who cares about you, enemies, family, friends. Pick and choose.’

While xQc may be understating its overall income, which may not include sponsorships and merchandise sales, the number is somewhat in line with other popular streams.

According to Forbes, Ninja, the most followed personality on Twitch, earned $17 million (£13.4m) overall in 2019, while TimTheTatman earned $8 million (£6.3m).

Despite the high income, Twitch stars don’t always have it easy when it comes to gaming. Last month, xQc was banned from a popular DayZ server simply because of his huge fan base, although this comes after many, many other bans for willfully breaking the rules.
