The 2023-25 World Test Championship (WTC) final may be held at a new venue. On Friday, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah said the board had discussed possible new venues with the ICC. Shah has also said that it would be difficult to find a different time slot or another location to host the WTC final, which is scheduled to take place in June 2025.
Shah also spoke about the impact player rule implemented in IPL from last season He said- ‘An impact player is like a test case. We have implemented it gradually. Its biggest advantage is that two Indian players from the same team get a chance in a match, which is most important.
Shah said – ‘After talking to the players and the owners of the franchise, we will think whether it should be continued further or not. However, he did not say that the Impact Player rule would not go ahead. Players Rohit Sharma and Mitchell Starc had expressed concern about the impact rule on players.

The previous two WTC finals have only been played in England. Both the finals were held in June and after reaching the finals in both, India had to face defeat. In the year 2021, the New Zealand team won at Southampton. At the same time, in 2023, Australia became World Test Champions at the Oval in London.
ICC earns most of its income with the help of BCCI. In such a situation, ICC keeps the timing of most of the tournaments keeping the Indian audience in mind.
England have hosted ICC tournaments a maximum of 11 times. India is number two.
More runs are scored due to impact player rule
The Player Impact Rule is believed to be the main reason for the league’s highest score recorded this season. Team India captain Rohit Sharma had said a few days ago that the impact player rule should be scrapped.
