New Delhi: The decision-making, especially from the third umpires, this season in the Indian Premier League has been quite ordinary.
Despite having plenty of technology at their disposal to assist, quite a few controversial calls from the umpires have turned the heads of fans and cricketers alike.
And one such decision was made by a third judge Nitin Menon On Thursday, when a wide fielder was sent up for criticism from the Mumbai Indians’ batting in a match against the Punjab Kings.

“Seriously? He (the batsman) was already outside the off-stump. I thought, the line moves (when the batsman moves). It’s touch and go,” said the stunned commentator. Murali Karthik on air when umpire Menon ruled in favor of the MI batsman.
And amid the questionable calls made, particularly by third umpires, former Australian cricketer Tom Moody Expert third umpires are offered in IPL matches.
“It’s time we consider having 3 expert referees, too many questionable decisions are being made. There are referees who are better suited on the field, the third referee requires experience and a certain skill set,” Modi wrote on X.
