Wayanad (A.26): Voting for the second phase of the Lok Sabha elections is underway. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is once again contesting in the Kerala Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency. There are 7 assembly seats in Wayanad Lok Sabha. It includes Kalpetta, Mananthawadi, Battery Sultan, Thiruvambadi, Ernad, Nilambur and Vandur. Kalpetta and Mananthawadi are reserved for Scheduled Tribe (ST) while Vandur is reserved for Scheduled Caste (SC). Meanwhile, according to the 2011 census of Wayanad district, out of a population of 8,17,420, Wayanad district has 49.48% Hindus, 28.65% Muslims and 21.34% Christians.
