The American technology company California (Web Desk) ‘Apple’, which manufactures smart phones, has lost its unique position, the market has seen a significant decrease in sales this year compared to last year.
In this regard, according to a foreign news agency report, Apple’s smartphone sales have fallen by about 10 percent in the first quarter of this year 2024, giving Samsung a chance to regain the top position.
Research company IDC’s data report said that during January and March this year, smartphone shipments increased by 7.8 percent to 289.4 million units, while Samsung’s market share was 20.8 percent, which overtook Apple to make smartphones.
According to the report, the iPhone maker’s significant drop in sales comes after its strong performance in the December quarter last year when it overtook Samsung as the world’s number one phone maker.
The company returned to second place with a market share of 17.3 percent as Chinese brands Huawei gained market share.
In addition, Xiaomi is one of the largest smartphone manufacturers in China, occupying the third position with a market share of 14.1% during the first quarter.
According to IDC, Apple shipped 50.1 million iPhones in the first quarter, down from 55.4 million units shipped in the same period last year.
Apple’s smartphone shipments in China fell 2.1 percent in the final quarter of 2023 from a year ago.
