Islamabad (Web Desk) The Sharia Board of Pakistan has set the combined price of Sadaqah Fitr and Fidya for Ramadan at 300 rupees. The minimum amount of Fitrana has been set at 300 rupees per person, which is equivalent to 2 kg of flour. The fidya for not fasting due to illness or other reasons is Rs 300 per person.

The Chairman of the Sharia Board Dr. Mufti Muhammad Zafar Iqbal Jalali that rich people should pay Fitrana according to their ability instead of living on minimum.

The price of various food items has been fixed at Rs 600, dates at Rs 2400 and raisins at Rs 4400. For the entire Ramadan, the price of flour feed has been fixed at 9 thousand rupees, the price of oats is 18 thousand rupees , the price of dates is 72 thousand rupees and the price of raisins is 1 lakh 32,000 rupees. Money given to the poor by those who are sick or unable to fast because there is no possibility of recovery is fidya for the illiterate.

Travelers and those who cannot fast temporarily must make up for missed fasts, as redemption cannot take the place of abstaining from fasting. If a person misses a fast due to travel or other reasons, he must fast every other day as compensation.

Al-Fitr or Sadaqah al-Fitr is obligatory on every Muslim and must be paid before Eid.
