The Kolkata Police’s cyber crime cell asked user X (formerly known as Twitter) to reveal his identity after his account posted a meme about West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. He was also sent a message from the police.
According to reports, the Kolkata Police’s cyber crime branch on Monday issued notices to two social media users for posting a video that was offensive, malicious and provocative. The video in question was an AI spoof of Prime Minister Mamata Banerjee, showing her dancing on a stage. Police have warned two former users – @SoldierSaffron7 and @Shalendervoice – for sharing a fake video of Mamata Banerjee.
DCP (Cyber ​​Crime), Kolkata Police posted in response, ‘You are directed to immediately disclose your identity including your name and residence. If the requested information is not disclosed, you will be liable for prosecution under Section 42 of CrPC.’
