Voting for the third phase of the Lok Sabha elections, which will cover 12 states and Union Territories, will begin on May 7. Voting is underway in a total of 93 constituencies today. It is worth noting that the BJP has already won the Surat constituency in Gujarat unopposed. After the completion of two phases of Lok Sabha elections on April 19 and April 26, the stage is set for the third phase of the 18th Lok Sabha elections.

In the third phase, 2 seats of Goa, 25 seats of Gujarat, 7 seats of Chhattisgarh and 14 seats of Karnataka will be contested. With this, the election will be completed in these states. Earlier on April 26, elections were held for 14 seats in Karnataka in the second phase. Polling will be held on Tuesday for two Lok Sabha constituencies, namely Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu. Apart from these, the voting will be held for 4 seats in Assam, 5 in Bihar, 7 in Chhattisgarh, 8 in Madhya Pradesh, 11 in Maharashtra, 10 in Uttar Pradesh and 4 in West Bengal. The polling date for the Anantnag-Rajouri Lok Sabha seat in Jammu and Kashmir in the sixth phase has been rescheduled to May 25.

The biggest candidates contesting in the third phase are Amit Shah (BJP) from Gandhi Nagar, Gujarat; Digvijay Singh (Congress) from Rajgarh, Madhya Pradesh; Shivraj Singh Chauhan (BJP) from Vidisha in Madhya Pradesh; Dimple Yadav (Samajwadi Party), from Mainpuri in Uttar Pradesh; Supriya Sule (Nationalist Congress Party – Sharad Pawar) from Baramati, Maharashtra; Purushottam Rupala (BJP) from Rajkot, Gujarat; Jyotiraditya Scindia (BJP) from Guna, Madhya Pradesh; Pralhad Joshi (BJP) from Dharwad, Karnataka, KS Eshwarappa (BJP) from Shimoga, Karnataka.
