GUWAHATI: Virat Kohli of Royal Challengers Bengaluru was fined 50% of his match fee on Monday for protesting against the umpire’s decision after he was dismissed in the match against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Paradise on April 21.

Kohli was given out after being caught at full waist height by Rashit Rana. RCB ended up losing the match with the highest run score.

The Hawk-Eye system found that the pass was just above the waist when it made contact with the ball.

The star batsman, who by then had made 18 from seven balls, was standing just outside the crease at that moment.

TV umpire Michael Gough checked the height and according to the hawk-eye tracking, the ball would have passed Kohli’s waist at a height of 0.92 meters had he been standing upright at the crease.

An upset Kohli left after an animated discussion with the on-field umpire. His black mood continued until he reached the team’s locker room where he knocked on a trash can that was outside.
