Vidya Veerappan, daughter of the dreaded coral smuggler Veerappan in the forests of Tamil Nadu, is contesting from Krishnagiri on the Tamilar Katchi ticket. Vidya is contesting elections for the first time. His NTK party has also not won a single seat in any parliamentary or assembly elections till date. In such a situation, it is a gamble to open the political account of both Vidya and NTK. Vidya, a lawyer by profession, started her political journey with BJP in 2020. Soon after, he was appointed the vice-president of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) and then the vice-president of the BJP’s Tamil Nadu backbench. She recently quit BJP and joined NTK and the party made her its candidate from Krishengiri.
