New Delhi: Getting selected for the Civil Services Examination (UPSC) is the dream of millions of people. But this is not so easy to achieve. If lakhs of people write prelims, only hundreds are selected for the Civil Service. Achieving this requires a lot of effort, persistence, hard work and proper planning. The recently released Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has revealed the details of the marks secured by the candidates in the Civil Services Examination-2023. While Aditya Srivastav from UP got the first position, Animesh Pradhan from Odisha got the second position and Donur Ananya Reddy from Palamur got the third position in the country. If you look at these marks scored by the toppers now, you will understand how tough the civil exam is.
Points were scored by the first 10 toppers
Total marks of civilian exam will be from 2025 including mains and interview. Out of these 1750 marks will be allotted for Main Test/Written Test and 275 marks for Interview. Aditya Srivastava who has secured first rank in civil examination 2023 has scored a total of 1099 marks. UPSC revealed that Shrivastav scored 899 in the written test and 200 in the interview.

Animesh Pradhan from Odisha has scored 1067 points (892, 175) and is second after Shtheastav. Donur Ananya Reddy (WWS Kota) of Telangana who secured the third position in the first attempt scored 1065 marks (875, 190). PK Siddharth Ramkumar 1059 marks (874, 185), Hani 1049 marks (856, 193), Srishti Dabas 1048 marks (862, 186), Anmol Rathore 1045 (839, 206) and Asis Kumar 1045 (896), Nausheen Scored 1045 (862, 186). 863, 182) and Aishwaryam Prajapathi (OBC quota) scored 1044 (890, 154) to secure the top 10 positions.

How was the three stage test?
UPSC conducts civil examination in three stages every year for selection of all major Indian services like IAS, IPS, IFS etc. There are three stages including Preliminary Tests, Main Interviews and Interview. The Civil Services Preliminary Examination-2023 was held on May 28 last year. A total of 10,16,850 candidates have applied, out of which 5,92,141 have written the preliminary exam. Out of this, 14,624 appeared for the mains exam and finally only 2,855 were selected for the interview. Out of this only 1016 candidates have been successful in UPSC.
Details of the boundary marks
UPSC has released the list of caste cut off marks for civil exam. According to this, general category in prelims percentage. 75.41, OBC 74.75, EWS (Economically Backward Class) 68.02, SC 59.25, ST 47.82.
In the Mains cutoff, 741 marks were allotted for General, 712 for OBC, 706 for EWS, 694 for SC and 692 for ST.
In the final result, the cut off marks were set at 953 for General, 919 for OBC, 923 for EWS, 890 for SC, 891 for ST.
