Abu Dhabi (International Desk) United Arab Emirates: Eid al-Fitr holidays have been announced for the private sector The government of the United Arab Emirates has announced an official holiday for private sector workers across the country on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr. The break will begin on Monday, April 8 and last until 3 Shawwal (or the Gregorian equivalent). According to the Islamic calendar, Ramadan lasts 29 or 30 days, depending on when the moon is visible. Eid al-Fitr is celebrated on the 1st of Shawwal.
If Ramadan lasts 30 days: Eid is from Monday, April 8 (Ramadan 29) to Friday, April 12 (Shawwal 3). If you consider the Saturday-Sunday weekend before and after the break, that’s a total of nine days off. Then there is the break from Saturday, April 6, to Sunday, April 14.

If Ramadan lasts 29 days: If this happens, residents will be given six days off, including weekends. The Eid holiday will be from Monday, April 8 (Ramadan 29) to Thursday, April 11. If you include the Saturday-Sunday weekend before the break, that’s a total of six days off. Then there is the break from Saturday, April 6, to Thursday, April 11.
Earlier, the UAE Cabinet had announced that federal government employees will enjoy a nine-day break to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr. However, those living in Sharjah will enjoy a 10-day break as public sector workers in the emirate get a three-day weekend.
Preparations have begun among the citizens for the religious festival. From glamorous costumes to pre-prepared food, the festival craze is slowly gaining ground in the country.
