Frozen beef traditionally complements poultry meat in our country’s export structure of meat and game. After a decrease in its sales in foreign markets in 2022, in 2023, there was an increase in the quantity and value of exports – 21 thousand tons in the amount of over 85 million dollars. This was reported by the Ukrainian Agricultural Export Association, writes agronews.ua.
Ukrainian-produced frozen beef enjoyed the greatest demand last year in China (12 thousand tons), Azerbaijan (3.3 thousand tons), Uzbekistan (1.9 thousand tons), Kazakhstan (1.5 thousand tons), Georgia (1.2 thousand tons) and Moldova (0.7 ) thousand tons).
The structure of the export goods included bone-in cuts, which made up 18.3 thousand tons, as well as boneless cuts amounting to 2.5 thousand tons. At the same time, the average price of boneless beef cuts was $2,825/t, while boneless cuts sold to foreign markets are more expensive – 4242 dollars/ton.
The Ukrainian Agricultural Export Association is convinced that the further development of frozen beef exports is possible thanks to the expansion of the geography of sales, for example, to the United States, South Korea, Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, which, together with China, are the main importers of this product in the world market.
