While completing the hearing in the case of rape of granddaughter Babtia, POCSO Special Judge Vivekananda Prasad found the grandmother and the rapist guilty and sentenced them to 20 years rigorous imprisonment each. Besides, both were also fined Rs 15,000 each.

The convicts are Baby Begum named Creamchap, a resident of Nagar Panchayat ward number one of Chanpatia police station and Ajajul Qureshi, a resident of Nazneen Chowk of Nagar police station. The court’s decision was made within two years.

POCSO Act Special Public Prosecutor Vedprakash Dwivedi said that in this case the mother of the victim registered the case number 705/021 of the city police station. In it, Baby Begum was accused of trying to rape her cousin Ajzul Qureshi. While completing the hearing of that case, the Sixth Additional District and Sessions Judge cum Special Judge, finding both of them guilty under the POCSO Act, sentenced Ajjul Qurashi to 20 years under Section 376 (AB), 20 years (B) of IPC and Section 4 of the POCSO Act 20 years rigorous imprisonment in case 6, 20 years in case 6 and 5 years rigorous imprisonment in case 8 and a fine of Rs 15,000.

Accused Baby Begum was sentenced to 20 years rigorous imprisonment under Section 376 (AB), 20 (B) of IPC, 20 years under Section 4/17 of the POCSO Act, 20 years under Section 6/17 and 5 years rigorous imprisonment under Section 8 /17 He was sentenced to a fine of 15,000 rupees. Besides, an order was given to give a grant of seven lakh twenty thousand rupees to the victim under the Bihar Victim Compensation Scheme.
